Here’s what SOMA’s up to:
WORSHIP GATHERING

August 7th: Worship Gathering, Children’s Environment, & Fellowship Meal
We will meet at our regular time of 11:15am at The Well (1401 6th Ave) to share conversation, pray and sing together. This will be the last Sunday in our “Spiritual Fruit” series. We will finish up by looking at the topic of self-control. Children’s Environment will be available for kids entering kindergarten through 5th grade. After the service, we’ll enjoy a fellowship meal together. 

THIS WEEK

Garden Night – Monday, August 1st
We’ll have our weekly work night at the garden from 5:30-7:00pm.

CDC Block Parties – Tuesday, August 2nd

This is a great opportunity to get to know your neighbors! In recognition of National Night Out, the Community Development Corporation is once again hosting several block parties around Beaver Falls on Tuesday, August 2nd from 6:00pm – 8:00pm.. The CDC will provide hot dogs and lemonade. Everyone is asked to bring a dish to share. Check out this flyer to locate the block party closest to you! 

Summer of Psalms & The Women’s Movement Group are canceled for Tuesday. Enjoy the block parties!

Morning Prayer at The Well  – Wednesday, August 3rd
At 7:30am every Wednesday morning, we will be meeting for prayer and practicing community together. Stop by (1401 6th Ave, Beaver Falls) to join in!

Drop In Hours – Wednesday, August 3rd
The Well will be open for anyone in the community to come enjoy the space, use the wifi, and have some coffee from 7:00am – 11:00am every Wednesday.

Poetry Class – Thursday, August 4th
Come experience together the power of words, written and spoken, and learn to write and speak your own poems! We’ll be experimenting with language and sound, images and emotion, memory, imagination, and beauty. Come with open minds, a pen or pencil, and whatever you feel able to pay for the evening (suggested $5). We’ll meet Thursdays at 6:30 PM at the Well (1401 6th Ave).

The Women’s Movement Group – Thursday, August 4th

7:30pm at The Well. Pay what makes you happy ($5 – $10 suggested).

Friday Night at The Red House – Friday, August 5th

Beaver Valley Christian Fellowship is hosting a coffeehouse event on the first Friday of every month from 7:00pm – 10:00pm.   The event will take place at The Red House, located at 903 8th Ave, Beaver Falls. There will be an acoustic show from 7-9pm, followed by a jam session. Free snacks and coffee provided. Check out their website for more info: http://theredhouseministry.com

Community Crime Watch Day – Saturday, August 6th

Join in this event for free educational demonstrations from law enforcement and other emergency response teams, as well as food, games and entertainment for the whole family. Several local mascots will be in attendance including Iceberg (from the Pittsburgh Penguins), Steely McBeam (Steelers), and the Chick-fil-A cow. Held Saturday, August 6th from 5:30pm – 9:00pm at Geneva College with fireworks concluding the event.

 
UPCOMING

Community Festival – August 13th

Hosted by TRAILS, the community festival will feature live music, food, and craft vendors. Located at 6th Ave & 6th St. from 10:00am – 7:00pm. 

SOMA’s Annual Picnic – September 17

Everyone is invited to celebrate the year with a picnic on Saturday, September 17th! It will be hosted at Doug & Jerryn Carson’s home (2200 6th Ave, downtown Beaver Falls) from 5:00pm – 7:00pm. Please bring a side dish to share!

Please continue to pray for adjustment and recovery for Charles’s mom Shirley who recently had a heart transplant.
