Week of November 14

Here’s what SOMA’s up to:

WORSHIP GATHERING

November 20th: Worship Gathering, Children’s Environment, and Fellowship Meal
We will meet at our regular time of 11:15am at The Well (1401 6th Ave) to share conversation, pray and sing together. We will continue talking about Joel, looking at chapter 3 this week.   Children’s Environment will be available for kids in kindergarten through 5th grade. After the service, share in a light fellowship meal.

4:00pm – Kid’s Movie Night

All elementary-aged kids are invited to come to The Well from 4:00pm – 7:00pm on Sunday, November 20th! We will be showing a kid-friendly movie and providing dinner. All kids must have an activity release form on file in order to stay for the event.

5:00pm – A Life Worth Living (week 9)

We’ve been joining our friends at First Baptist Church for a 9-week video series from 5-7pm on Sunday evenings.  We meet at their building (616 17th St in Beaver Falls), have a small dinner together, watch a video teaching on the book of Philippians, and have small group discussion. Find more details and the full schedule here. Transportation is available for Geneva students.

*5:30pm  – CCO @ The Well

Each Sunday we will have a time for college students to hang out together at The Well from 7:10 – 8:45pm (following A Life Worth Living). Each week will look different so join the CCO at The Well Facebook group to stay informed! This Sunday we will be hanging out with the Edenhoffer family.

SUNDAY RESOURCES

Recordings

We are recording our Sunday messages once again! You can listen to them here. That same link can also be found at the bottom of our website.

Discipleship Documents

Below are the discipleship documents that were mentioned on Sunday:

Discipleship in Relationship – Check out the available ways that we can be following Jesus together.

Discipleship Process – This is SOMA’s official document on our discipleship process, looking at things that we cultivate and encourage.

SUGGESTED SPIRITUAL PRACTICE

In light of Joel chapter 1, find time this week to begin praying your lament.  As you do so, remember what Emmanuel Katongole says:

“Lament is not whining. It is not a cry into a void. Lament is a cry directed to God. It is the cry of those who see the truth of the world’s deep wounds and the cost of seeking peace. It is the prayer of those who are deeply disturbed by the way things are…The journey of reconciliation is grounded in the practice of lament.”

COMMUNITY CONCERNS
If you’ve got something to share with SOMA’s community by way of prayer request or a call for help from the body, let me know and I’ll put those here.

Maci’s Mom
Maci’s mom was recently in a car accident; please keep her physical and spiritual wellbeing in your prayers.
