Week of April 24

Here’s what SOMA’s up to:
WORSHIP GATHERING
 
April 30th: Worship Gathering and Fellowship Meal
We will meet at our regular time of 11:15am at The Well (1401 6th Ave) to share conversation, pray and sing together.  Dr. Todd Allen will be joining us and preaching this week. After the service, we will share in a fellowship meal together.
THIS WEEK
 
Men’s Night – Monday, April 24th
Every Monday @ 6:30pm at The Well will be a Men’s Night for guys to meet, hang out, and encourage each other (note the change in day of the week!). All men are welcome!
Women’s Movement Group – Thursday, April 27th
This is the start of the spring session and a great time to jump in! All women are welcome to join in this movement group, whether you love to dance or it makes you nervous. Pay what makes you happy (suggested $5/class). We’ll meet at The Well from 7:00pm – 8:00pm.
Drop In Hours – Friday, April 28th
Join in our Friday open hours at The Well! Anyone is welcome to come use the space from 10:00am – 4:00pm. 
 
Rumble in the Jungle – Saturday, April 29th
Tiger Pause’s annual Rumble in the Jungle Obstacle Challenge is this Saturday
at the corner of 8th Avenue and 22nd Street in Beaver Falls. There will be a street fair atmosphere throughout the event where all can enjoy music, food, and a variety of activities including inflatable games, crafts and more. Registration Pricing: Individual adult: $10. Individual high school or Geneva College student: $5. Team of four adults: $20. Kids 12 and under: $1.  Adult, college, and high school participants will get a T-shirt upon registration. Check out the RITJ website for more info. 
 
UPCOMING
 
Reading Day – May 1st
The Well will be open on Reading Day for students to use as a study space. Check the CCO at The Well Facebook group for hours and info! 
 
May Community Conversation – May 7th
On Sunday, May 7th at 6:30pm at The Well we’ll be talking about how we can have diverse, difficult conversations in honest, loving Christian community.  All are welcome.
 
Jumping for Java 5k & 1 mile run – May 13th
A 5k fundraiser for Lan Vwa, our international partner, is planned for the morning of Saturday, May 13th at the Zelienople Community Park. Early registration is $20; each runner will provide education for a child for one month in addition to receiving a t-shirt and gym bag. The 5k will start at 9am with timed results and prizes in various ages groups. VBS at FPC – June 12- 15
This year’s VBS theme is “Maker Fun Factory” and will run from 9:00am – 11:30am on June 12-15th at First Presbyterian Church in Beaver. Registration opens in May for kids ages 4 (by September 1st) to entering 6th grade; registration forms will be available on the SOMA table. If rides are needed or you are interested in helping with VBS, email Kristen at kristen.slebodnik@gmail.com.
 
Open Hours Volunteers Needed
We are looking for some more volunteer staff for Open Hours at The Well, especially with extended Friday hours and summer schedules. Contact Dave (daveslebodnik@gmail.com) if you are available to lend your time on Friday mornings/afternoons once a month. 
 
Pastor March’s Sabbatical – June 4 – September 3
Pastor Marc will be taking a three-month sabbatical this summer as a time to rest and pursue his studies. Don’t worry – we will continue as a worshipping body while he is away! Please see the attached Sabbatical FAQ for more of the details about this time period.

COMMUNITY CONCERNS


If you’ve got something to share with SOMA’s community by way of prayer request or a call for help from the body, let me know and I’ll put those here.

 
Haiti Mission Trip
Simone, Kamera, & Amanda shared with us this Sunday that they will be going to Haiti in May with Haiti H2O and their need for financial support in order to make the trip happen.  If anyone wants to support them in their learning, they can make out a check to SOMA with ‘Haiti’ in the memo.
 
Robin Hill
Robin would like prayer for Tasha to come to the Lord and for direction in her life. For herself, Robin asks for pray that she will be able to carry on and support her family and friends and stay strong for surgery. 
 
Pattersons
Pray for Tyler and Maci’s marriage and for their search to find a new apartment in Beaver Falls or New Brighton.
