Here’s what SOMA’s up to:

 

WORSHIP GATHERING

 

June 11thWorship Gathering, Communion, and Potluck Lunch

We will meet at our regular time of 11:15am at The Well (1401 6th Ave) to share conversation, pray and sing together. Pastor Henry Knapp from First Presbyterian Church in Beaver will be joining us and we will share in communion together. After the service, we will have our monthly potluck lunch – please bring a dish to share with 6-8 people if you are able!


4:15pm – Kid’s Movie Night

All elementary-aged kids are invited to come to The Well from 4:15-6:45pm on Sunday, June 11. We will be showing a kid-friendly movie and providing dinner. All kids must have an activity release form on file in order to stay for the event.

THIS WEEK

Men’s Night – Monday, June 5

Every Monday @ 6:30pm at The Well will be a Men’s Night for guys to meet, hang out, and encourage each other. All men are welcome!

Garden Work Night – Wednesday, June 7th

Starting this week, we will have our summer community garden work nights. Meet at the garden (located at 15th St & 1st Ave) each Wednesday from 5-7pm to help out!

 

No Women’s Movement Group 

The Women’s Movement Group is off until June 22 when the summer session will start.

 

Drop In Hours – Friday, June 9th

Join in our Friday open hours at The Well! Anyone is welcome to come use the space from 10:00am – 4:00pm.

Garrison Day – Saturday, June 10

Features a large selection of arts and crafts, antiques, food and refreshments, an art show, music by the Fort McIntosh Fife and Drum Corps and other lively entertainment. Free. 9 A.M.-6 P.M in the downtown parks in Beaver.

Beaver Falls Car Cruise – Saturday, June 10

Join in the 29th annual Car Cruise to see over 3,000 classic vehicles and 10,000 spectators on the mile long cruise lane, plus DJs playing the oldies all day. Enjoy food from our local vendors on the side streets! 1-9pm on 7th Ave downtown.

Pastor Marc’s Sabbatical – June 4 – September 3

Pastor Marc will be taking a three-month sabbatical this summer as a time to rest and pursue his studies. Don’t worry – we will continue as a worshiping body while he is away! Please see the attached Sabbatical FAQ for more of the details about this time period.

 

 

UPCOMING

 

VBS at FPC – June 12- 15

This year’s VBS theme is “Maker Fun Factory” and will run from 9:00am – 11:30am on June 12-15th at First Presbyterian Church in Beaver. Registration opens in May for kids ages 4 (by September 1st) to entering 6th grade; registration forms will be available on the SOMA table. If rides are needed or you are interested in helping with VBS, email Kristen at kristen.slebodnik@gmail.com.

VBS at Second Baptist – June 19-23

Second Baptist Church in Beaver Falls will be holding VBS on June 19-23 from 6-8pm.  Registration starts at 5:30pm on Monday, June 19.

Summer Youth Dance Class – starting June 22 – August 3

This dance class is for all kids and youth ages 5 and up! We will be exploring Modern Dance techniques while we cultivate our creativity and strengthen our choreographic voice! Taught by Julia Crawford Bacon, the class will be held at The Well from 5:30 – 6:30pm each Thursday. Cost is $35 for 7 classes. Open Hours Volunteers Needed

We are looking for some more volunteer staff for Open Hours at The Well, especially with extended Friday hours and summer schedules. Contact Dave (daveslebodnik@gmail.com) if you are available to lend your time on Friday mornings/afternoons once a month.
