Week of May 31

From Pastor Marc:

As my family and I are getting ready to leave this Saturday for my summer sabbatical, we are beyond grateful to you all for your encouragement and support leading up to this time.  I’m so glad to be able to leave with SOMA in such good hands (God’s first, of course, and also Dave, Kristen, Akil, Jackie, Jerryn, the Leadership Team, and all of you!). Though we won’t be in touch, know that I’ll be praying for you all, for your community life, for your summer Kingdom work in our city, and that I’ll be excited to reconnect when we get back at the end of August!

Grace & peace friends,

Here’s what SOMA’s up to:

June 4thCommunity Pentecost Worship Service

This Sunday, June 4th, we will not be meeting for our usual Sunday morning worship at The Well.  Instead, we will be joining with at least 5 other Beaver Falls churches for a Community Pentecost Worship Service. This is a beautiful opportunity to worship with other believers in our city. The service will start at 10:30am and will be held at the Beaver Falls High School.

SOMA giving in April: $5,149

SOMA giving budgeted monthly: $4,500

No garden work night – we start next week!

Women’s Movement Group – Thursday, June 1st

All women are welcome to join in this movement group, whether you love to dance or it makes you nervous. Pay what makes you happy (suggested $5/class). We’ll meet at The Well from 7:00pm – 8:00pm.

Drop In Hours – Friday, June 2nd

Join in our Friday open hours at The Well! Anyone is welcome to come use the space from 10:00am – 4:00pm.

Pastor Marc’s Sabbatical – June 4 – September 3

Pastor Marc will be taking a three-month sabbatical this summer as a time to rest and pursue his studies. Don’t worry – we will continue as a worshiping body while he is away! Please see the attached Sabbatical FAQ for more of the details about this time period.

Garden Work Nights – starting June 7th

Starting next week, June 7th, we will have our summer community garden work nights. Meet at the garden (located at 15th St & 1st Ave) each Wednesday from 5-7pm to help out!

Kid’s Movie Night – June 11

All elementary-aged kids are invited to come to The Well from 4:15-6:45pm on Sunday, June 11. We will be showing a kid-friendly movie and providing dinner. All kids must have an activity release form on file in order to stay for the event.

VBS at FPC – June 12- 15

This year’s VBS theme is “Maker Fun Factory” and will run from 9:00am – 11:30am on June 12-15th at First Presbyterian Church in Beaver. Registration opens in May for kids ages 4 (by September 1st) to entering 6th grade; registration forms will be available on the SOMA table. If rides are needed or you are interested in helping with VBS, email Kristen at kristen.slebodnik@gmail.com.

Open Hours Volunteers Needed

We are looking for some more volunteer staff for Open Hours at The Well, especially with extended Friday hours and summer schedules. Contact Dave (daveslebodnik@gmail.com) if you are available to lend your time on Friday mornings/afternoons once a month.
