Here’s what SOMA’s up to:

 

WORSHIP GATHERING

 

August 6thWorship Gathering, Children’s Environment, & Fellowship Meal

We will meet at our regular time of 11:15am at The Well (1401 6th Ave) to share conversation, pray and sing together. Kathy Kinzer-Downs will be joining us to share the message this week. Children’s Environment will be available for kids in kindergarten through 5th grade. After the service, we will share in a fellowship meal together.

 

THIS WEEK

Farmers’ Market – Monday, July 31st

Municipal Parking Lot, Corner of 8th Avenue & 12th Street. Every Monday from 3:30-6:30pm.

Men’s Night – Monday, July 31st

Every Monday @ 6:30pm at The Well will be a Men’s Night for guys to meet, hang out, and encourage each other. All men are welcome!

Community Block Parties – Tuesday, August 1st

The 4th Annual CDC Block Parties are happening on Tuesday, August 1 from 6-8pm. Six block parties will be held around Beaver Falls – check out the flier to find the one closest to you! We are also all invited to come to the party at the end of the bike path. Hot dogs and lemonade are provided; if you are able, please bring a side dish.

No Garden Work Night – Wednesday, August 2nd

We are taking a break this week – you are encouraged to check out some of the other community activities!

 

Summer Youth Dance Class – Thursday, August 3rd

This dance class is for all kids and youth ages 5 and up! We will be exploring Modern Dance techniques while we cultivate our creativity and strengthen our choreographic voice! Taught by Julia Crawford Bacon, the class will be held at The Well from 5:30 – 6:30pm each Thursday from June 22 – August 3. Join in when you can! Cost is $5 per class. Email crawford.julia@gmail.com to register or just show up. Fliers and registration forms available on the SOMA table.

Women’s Movement Group – Thursday, August 3rd

This summer we are going to keep moving and celebrating our stories. Don’t let fear keep you. Come dance. 7:00-8:00pm at The Well. Pay what makes you happy! ($5-$10/class suggested)

Drop In Hours – Friday, August 4th

Join in our Friday open hours at The Well! Anyone is welcome to come use the space from 10am – 4pm.

Community Crime Watch Day – Saturday, August 5th

Beaver Falls’ annual Community Crime Watch Day is happening on Saturday, August 5th, from 6-9pm at Geneva College. The day is full of family-friendly activities and safety demonstrations. The event concludes with a fireworks display.  Check out the flier for more details.

Help Needed: SOMA is in charge of kids games for this event. If you are able to help out with either planning or running games at the event, contact kristen.slebodnik@gmail.com 

 

UPCOMING

Open Hours Volunteers Needed

We are looking for some more volunteer staff for Open Hours at The Well, especially with extended Friday hours and summer schedules. Contact Dave (daveslebodnik@gmail.com) if you are available to lend your time on Friday mornings/afternoons once a month.

COMMUNITY CONCERNS

If you’ve got something to share with SOMA’s community by way of prayer request or a call for help from the body, let me know and I’ll put those here.

Rides for Tyler and Maci

The Pattersons are looking for help with getting transportation to and from appointments. They live in New Brighton. If you are able to help out, get in touch with Dave Slebodnik (724-875-7286).

Rick Townsend

We are asked to pray for Rick Townsend of Beaver Falls; he had a stroke and fractured his skull. Please pray for his healing.

Henry Marshall

We are asked to pray for Henry Marshall of Monaca; he has a degenerative bone disease that requires many surgeries. Please pray for his healing.
