Here’s what SOMA’s up to:

WORSHIP GATHERING

November 12thWorship Gathering, Communion, and Potluck Lunch

We will meet at our regular time of 11:15am at The Well (1401 6th Ave) to share conversation, pray and sing together. Kathy Kinzer-Downs will be sharing the message with us this week and we will share in Communion together. After the service, we will have our monthly potluck lunch – please bring a dish to share with 6-8 people if you are able!

THIS WEEK

Community Group – Mondays

This community group is for both college students and community members. It will meet on Mondays @ 9:00am at The Well until December 4th. Contact Dave at daveslebodnik@gmail.com if you are interested.

Farmers’ Market – Monday, November 6th

Every Monday from 3:30-6:30pm in Municipal Parking Lot, Corner of 8th Avenue & 12th Street.

Men’s Night – Monday, November 6th

Every Monday @ 6:30pm at The Well will be a Men’s Night for guys to meet, hang out, and encourage each other. All men are welcome!

Zumba Class – Wednesday, November 8th

A 6-week Zumba fitness class on Wednesdays at 7pm at The Well (last class is November 22nd). The class is free, open to everyone, and will be taught by Deb Griffith. See the flier for more details.

Youth Dance Class – Thursday, November 9th

Offered for ALL children and youth ages 5+ with drop in and ongoing registration. Pay as you go and pay what you are able options are available. Late fall session: October 19 – November 16. Class is held Thursdays, from 5:30-6:30pm at The Well. Cost is $25/session. Email crawford.julia@gmail.com to join in – or just show up!

Women’s Movement Group – Thursday, November 9th

This fall we are going to keep dancing together as we expand our movement range and honor our stories! Late fall session: October 19 – November 16. Class is held Thursdays from 7-8pm at The Well. Pay what makes you happy ($5-10 suggested)

Young Life – Thursday, November 9th

Every week at 8:00pm on Thursdays, all high school students are invited to the basement of The Well for a fun time with Young Life!

Drop In Hours – Friday, November 10th

Join in our Friday open hours at The Well! Everyone is welcome to come use the space from 10am – 4pm. Free coffee, lunch, and wi-fi.

Recovery Community Group – Fridays

This community group is for anyone struggling in some kind of addiction and looking for Christian community support. It will meet on Fridays @ 12:30pm at The Well.

Convergence: Unity in Diversity Symposium – Saturday, November 11th

You are invited to attend Geneva College’s Convergence Symposium on Saturday, November 11 from 10 am – 4 pm. The purpose of the Symposium is to create space to learn and dialogue about how to pursue unity in diversity through Christ. The theme this year is: “Everything in its Right Place: Race, Politics, and Shalom.” Our keynote speaker is Lisa Sharon Harper, author of Left, Right and Christ and The Very Good Gospel. Cost is $20 for the general public; free to Geneva students and staff. UPCOMING

Benefit Concert – November 18

On Saturday, November 18th there will be a Benefit Concert at The Well for victims of the recent hurricanes and flooding. Join in as we worship together and show our love for the people who have been affected. The concert starts at 5:00pm; donation of $10 at the door.

Kid’s Movie Night – November 19

All elementary-aged kids are invited to come to The Well from 4:15-6:45pm on the third Sunday of each month. We will show a kid-friendly movie and provide dinner. All kids must have an activity release form on file in order to stay for the event.

Mission Partnership Classes

This is your opportunity to learn more about Soma’s mission and sign on to partner with us as we take the next step in our community life together. There will be two Soma Mission Partnership classes offered: Saturday, January 27 and Saturday, February 3, both from 10 AM to 3 PM. Please choose one date or the other to attend.

GET INVOLVED

Community Groups

Groups meet at various times to study scripture, be together, eat together, and serve together. Sign up for a group on the visitor card or by replying to this email.

          College Student Groups: Groups started this week and will continue until December 4. Mondays at 9am (open to both students and non-students) & 6pm and Wednesdays at 8am. Get in touch with Dave daveslebodnik@gmail.com to sign up for a time that fits your schedule.

Rides for Tyler and Maci 

The Pattersons are looking for help with getting transportation to and from appointments. They recently moved to College Hill. We are looking to put together a team of people who are available to provide a ride once per month. If you are able, get in touch with Dave Slebodnik (724-875-7286).

College Tutor Needed

We’re looking for a Biology or Chemistry major to help one of our folks with her college classes.  If you’re able to give an hour a week, contact Pastor Marc or reply to this email.

Donations and Volunteers Needed for 24th Annual Christmas Dinner

Items needed: hygiene products and new scarves, socks, gloves, and hats (only), and monetary donations. The dinner is held on Christmas Day from 11:30am – 3:00pm at the Beaver Falls High School; last year, over 1,300 people attended. To volunteer or donate, contact CARE Outreach Ministry at 724-846-3751.

Office Flooring

Young Life is looking for some help with laying the flooring in the office they use at The Well. If you are available to help out, get in touch with Dave at daveslebodnik@gmail.com.

Akil Chaney’s Wife

Akil & Dzifa Chaney were married in Ghana in July of 2014. After over 3 years of waiting, Dzifa’s immigrant visa has finally been approved!  A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Dzifa make the move from Ghana to Beaver Falls; if you can, please donate at: https://www.gofundme.com/DzifaRelocation

Logan

Logan Kovacs broke his hip and is in a wheelchair. Brie and Attila ask for prayer for quick and complete healing, especially as their new baby will arrive soon.
