Week of February 6

Here’s what SOMA’s up to:

February 12th: Worship Gathering, Communion, and Potluck Lunch
We will meet at our regular time of 11:15am at The Well (1401 6th Ave) to share conversation, pray and sing together. We are starting a new series on the Beatitudes found in Matthew 5. We will also share in Communion together. After the service, we will have our monthly potluck lunch – please bring a dish to share with 6-8 people if you are able!

10:00am – Christian Community Development class – Week 3

We are holding a 6-week Sunday morning class on the principles of Christian Community Development.  God has used CCD to shape SOMA’s culture for the last 5 years, and this is a chance to learn about it in more detail.  We’ll meet at 10am in the basement, no sign up needed.  Visit www.ccda.org to learn more about the Christian Community Development Association.
6:30pm – Dialogue on Youth
On Sunday, Feb 12th, we’ll be sharing ideas about how SOMA can best serve the teenage youth in our church and city.  This is a focus of ours in 2017, and we’d love your ideas.  Meet at The Well @ 6:30pm; childcare will be provided.
Drop In Hours – Wednesday, February 8th
The Well will be open for anyone in the community to come enjoy the space, use the wifi, and have some coffee from 7:00am – 10:00am every Wednesday.
Men’s Night – Wednesday, February 8th
Every Wednesday @ 6:30pm at The Well will be a Men’s Night for SOMA guys to meet, hang out, and encourage each other.
Women’s Movement Group – Thursday, February 9th
All women are welcome to join in this movement group, whether you love to dance or it makes you nervous. Pay what makes you happy (suggested $5/class). We’ll meet at The Well from 7:00pm – 8:00pm.
Drop In Hours – Friday, February 10th
Join in our Friday open hours at The Well! Anyone is welcome to come use the space from 10:00am – 1:00pm.
Jubilee Conference – February 17 – 19
The Jubilee Conference is coming up! This annual Pittsburgh conference focuses on what it means to serve Jesus with every square inch of life and is geared specifically to college students. This year features artists such as Lecrae, Propaganda, and Joy Ike with a host of amazing speakers. Any college students who would like to attend can register online and find out more information at www.jubileeconference.com. See Dave Slebodnik with any questions & to find out how the conference can be more affordable.
*The next price increase is this Thursday, January 26th. Deposit before then to save some cash!
Marriage Check-Up – Saturday, February 25th
If you’re married, engaged, or in a relationship & thinking of marriage, join us from 10am-2pm on February 25th to learn about what leads to health in our relationships.  We’ll be led by Monica Monismith, a certified counselor with the Christian Counselors Collaborative.  No cost, lunch is provided.  Sign up via email (info@thesomagathering.org) or on the SOMA table at The Well.
Open Hours Volunteers Needed
We are looking for some more volunteer staff for Open Hours at The Well. Contact Dave (daveslebodnik@gmail.com) if you are available to lend your time on Wednesday or Friday mornings once a month.
We are recording our Sunday messages once again! You can listen to them here. That same link can also be found at the bottom of our website.
Looking Ahead Document
On February 5, we talked about 2016 and SOMA’s year ahead. You can check out that information in the document attached to this email.

If you’ve got something to share with SOMA’s community by way of prayer request or a call for help from the body, let me know and I’ll put those here.

Anthony’s Family
Anthony Regan’s mother passed away early this morning after a long struggle with illness. We want to pray for his family, especially for Anthony’s father who had been caring for her.
